Llyn Padarn, Snowdonia, North Wales elopement

Amy & Ryan got married earlier in the summer but they had their heart set on an elopement style shoot around Llyn Padarn (Lake Padarn) in Llanberis, right at the base of Snowdon. The lake is a special spot for the couple; a North Wales beauty spot they return to time and time again. It’s easy to understand why; it’s fast become my favourite North Wales natural beauty spot with my second shoot here in the last year. We decided we’d go for some ethereal, beautiful portraits of the couple in the water so Amy & Ryan braved the cold and got in for some absolutely stunning photographs. It’s as though Amy’s tulle dress was made for the water! Sure it wasn’t what the designer had in mind but it cannot be denied!

Even if you’re going to Llyn Padarn / Snowdonia just for a visit (and not a photoshoot with myself), I would highly recommend getting on the lake one way or the other. You can rent stand up paddle boards at the lake itself or bring your own SUP. The water is amazing clear (although very cold) for swimming. And on the south side of the lake there are lots of lagoon-like pools with trees overhanging and shallow areas. Great if you are visiting with the family. The view alone over Llyn Padarn, Llyn Peris & Snowdon beyond Llanberis is breath-taking. The absolute perfect spot to get some fantastic images.

Amy & Ryan’s willingness to get in the lake was 10/10. No tulle dress could hold Amy back! I so appreciate when couples are up for a little adventure, getting a bit soggy and their walking shoes on (under the dress) to get the shot! I’ll gladly come back to North Wales because along with its beauty, there’s so much to explore. And that’s coming from a South Wales girl!

Did you know I offer post wedding shoots? They are called re-love shoots & they are a fantastic op to do something exciting that you didn’t have time for on the day. Whether it’s a big hike with a stunning view, waterfall ramble or paddle in the sea. They are so worth it & a great way to relieve the pressure of fitting all the photos you want on the actual day. See the details here:

Massive thanks to Amy & Ryan who waded into Llyn Padarn for these shots. This feels like the most ‘me’ shoot I’ve done yet so book me for more adventurous sessions please my lovely couples!
