Penarth Pier Pavilion Wedding, Vale of Glamorgan

Debbie & Richard tied the knot in a beautiful Welsh language ceremony on the top floor of Penarth Pier Pavilion. The couple kept it small & intimate with just their children and their partners as guests which made it incredibly personal & special. It was the first time I’ve been a part of a wedding where the ceremony was conducted in Welsh and it was a lovely experience. It’s always been a goal of mine to learn Welsh. Although I learnt some basics in school, as I’ve got older I’ve felt myself wanting to be able to speak more. Maybe I’ll make it a goal to learn some wedding ceremony phrases for my next one!

Penarth Pier was first constructed in 1894, with its elegant Pavilion added in 1929. The Pier has an interesting history; it was requisitioned by the army during the First World War, where pleasure steamers were used as minesweepers. Penarth Pier Pavilion was rebuilt after a fire in 1931. Today, the Penarth Pier Pavilion stands as an Art Deco style landmark for Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

This lovely venue offers sweeping views across the Bristol Channel, towards Flat Holm, Steep Holm and the Somerset coastline — a stunning backdrop for your wedding day.

Licensed for civil ceremonies, weddings and civil partnerships, the Pavilion can accommodate between 10 and 110 guests. Its vaulted main gallery and selection of charming event spaces provide plenty of choice. The top-floor room, surrounded by wrap-around windows, is particularly popular for intimate ceremonies thanks to its panoramic views of the bay. In the evening, you and your guests can also enjoy exclusive access to the Pier itself.

Throughout the year, the Pavilion hosts a variety of events, including live music, art exhibitions, cinema screenings, creative workshops as well as its regular cafe service.
