What a wedding venue! Rosie & Ed tied the knot at the beautiful Victorian house, Berwick Lodge near Bristol. The stunning Berwick Lodge, although now a picture perfect wedding venue has got a really interesting history. Once a family home, it went on to be a school and psychiatric hospital. Berwick Lodge is a stone’s throw from Bristol, falling in South Gloucestershire and even though it feels remote and in the depths of the countryside it has easy access to the M4 and M5. The venue has kept many of their original 1890’s features; I’m a sucker for stain glass so the bridal suite had me at hello!

Berwick Lodge really is ideal for the nature-loving wedding photographer in me with 18 acres of grounds. It has its own orchard with views across the river Severn towards the Welsh hills (which as a Welsh girl, I will say, I appreciate). The garden has a beautiful fountain, original Victorian summerhouse and Aphrodite’s Dome which has a license for outdoor wedding ceremonies. You may just be allowed to paddle in the fountain if you are well behaved!

Rosie & Ed put a lot of themselves into their day including a two-sided cake that was both traditional and unique. Their cake had a Scottish tartan trim as well as a surprise Star Wars side. A very sweet joint creation between Rosie’s mum and a dear friend.

In true English wedding tradition, we had sunshine and showers, which I can say didn’t put a dampener on the day whatsoever. Although the guests wore masks during the ceremony; this was my first wedding since the relaxation of most covid restrictions. After so long of paused wedding days, it was extra sweet to witness Rosie & Ed’s nearest and dearest brought together to celebrate! Congratulations to the happy couple!
