Beckford’s Tower Wedding, Lansdown Hill, Bath, Somerset

BECKFORD’S TOWER + THE OLIVE TREE BATH WEDDING

Maddie & Michael’s wedding day at Beckford’s Tower was a special one. The bride & groom opted for a small ceremony with two of their closest friends. At the very top of Beckford’s tower is an intimate ceremony room with amazing views of the surrounding Somerset countryside.

With its dramatic spiral staircase; it’s only 154 steps up to the top! With multiple times up and down throughout the day, I can testify it’s definitely a good work out! Beckford’s Tower also allows for large celebrations close to the tower with space for a marquee with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.

Beckford’s Tower is a Grade I listed building constructed between 1826 and 1827 for William Beckford. A distinctive landmark in the City of Bath, the Tower once housed one of the most significant collections of art, furniture & books in Georgian England. Beneath its striking architecture, however, lies a far more brutal history. The Tower was made possible by wealth from the transatlantic trafficking of enslaved African people. Today, Beckford’s Tower is a National Lottery Heritage funded museum that talks openly about its history.

Tree lined paths, dry stone walls and views over the valley make for a beautiful backdrop for wedding photography. Not to mention the Bath stone of the tower itself & the arched gateway.

After a walk round Beckford’s grounds to capture some post wedding ceremony photos of Maddie & Michael, we got in a taxi to The Olive Tree where the four had a relaxed lunch in the outdoor garden. A perfect example of how your wedding day can be as relaxed as you want it to be!

Thank you for including me in your small but sweet wedding celebration – Maddie & Michael!
