Bristol City centre wedding, Castle Park

Leanne & Lewis got married at Bristol Registry Office right next to St Nicholas market (St Nick’s market to the locals). The sandstone streets surrounding Bristol Registry Office make for great post ceremony wedding portraits. The bride & groom opted for a relaxed affair with a few close members of family present.

THE MAYORAL ROOM – BRISTOL REGISTRY OFFICE

Bristol Registry office, previously known as The Old Council House, was built in the 1820s and is a grade 2 listed building. It has several rooms it uses for wedding ceremonies each with their own charm. The Bristol Room, The Lantern Room, The Mayoral Room and The Grand Council Chamber. The couple chose the grand but intimate venue of The Mayoral Room within Bristol Registry Office with its red walls, wood panelling and ornate fireplace. Portraits of previous mayors of Bristol look over the nuptials. Perfect for any couple that loves a period drama and are after a little bit of Victorian decadence on their wedding day.

You can see more about the rooms here:

The area is surrounded by beautiful sandstone buildings and pave stoned streets. They made the perfect backdrop for us to capture some images of the two and a few group shots.

CASTLE PARK – WEDDING PHOTOS

We took a wander over to Castle Park to get some photos of the newlyweds surrounded by the flowers and church ruins. When in bloom in June & July, it is really stunning with climbing flowers and lots of trees surrounding the castle garden. St Peter’s church was bombed during the war and took extensive damage which meant it is no longer used. Although the inside is not open to the public, the ruins and gardens provide a beautiful backdrop for anyone wanting a little bit of quiet & greenery in the city. You’d never believe the park is smack bang in the middle of the city centre. Against the backdrop of St Peter’s church, Castle Park looks more like a quaint village in Somerset rather than right in the centre of a bustling metropolis.

The newlyweds went for a relaxed meal after tying the knot with their family and friends. A perfect example of a bride and groom that did their wedding their way. It doesn’t have to be a massive event to be meaningful!
