Bishops Frome wedding, Herefordshire

Pippa & Navin tied the knot at St Mary the Virgin church in Bishop’s Frome right next to Pippa’s family home & then had the reception in their beautiful back garden overlooking fields. Barrington House is a grand and beautiful home with gardens surrounding it and the most glorious corn field behind.

Pippa’s outfit had so many lovely sentimental touches. Her shoes were worn by her mother on her own wedding day & her hairband has been in the family for generations. It’s the little things like this that make your day so meaningful and important. Weaving sentimentality into your day is something you won’t regret.

The couple had an engagement shoot with me in Bath earlier in the year. An engagement shoot is a great way to get used to having your photo taken pre-wedding day. And a chance for us to meet and get to know each other a little before the big day.

See the photos from their engagement shoot here:

We took a sunset stroll in the corn field. What photographer could resist happy snapping in this field? Congratulations to these two lovely souls!

Who doesn’t love a wedding day outfit change? Getting more and more common, the only thing better than wearing your favourite outfit is having two favourite outfits and making an entrance when you return in outfit number 2.

Woodland engagement, Caerleon, Newport

Sam & Sioned had their engagement shoot in Caerleon. A lovely village on the outskirts of Newport – known for being a Roman fortress. It has it’s own Roman baths, barracks & amphitheatre and is a quaint village surrounded by lovely woodland and walks.

We wound our way through St Julian’s park which is less of a park and more of an ancient woodland that is such a treasure. Relatively quiet and unknown you can go for a walk here without meeting anyone. The forest has been known as a medieval deer park since 1583. It’s classed as ancient semi-natural woodland, meaning that there has been woodland here since the 1600s. There’s also an Iron Age hillfort in the woods.

Definitely worth a trip; there’s plenty of room to get lost and explore. Bluebells in spring, golden leaves & mushrooms in autumn. It’s beautiful all year round and has lots to offer the nature lover. We ended up making a little video too that featured a few (hoofed) special guests from the field near by.

The bride and groom to-be are having their wedding later this year at the wonderful Gwernyfed Walled Garden. Known for it’s lovely flower gardens and glass house conservatory. I’m so looking forward to being a guest at what will be a beautiful day with the loveliest couple (will resist the temptation to take photos – maybe!).

Copper & Holly Farm Wedding, Brecon

Tina & Izzy got married at the wonderful Copper & Holly Farm, Pontybat between Brecon & Talgarth. The Mid Wales – Powys wedding venue, Copper & Holly Farm is community focused with a pick-your-own pumpkin patch and Christmas barn. Copper & Holly have recently branched into weddings. The wood clad barn space really looks exceptional kitted out with fairy and festoon lights.

Breaking tradition, this lovely pair chose to get ready together. Who says you have to be traditional? Do what feels right for your wedding day. Keep the things that make you happy and ditch the rest. The cottage has the most dramatically lit room; perfect for getting ready shots.

Having recently re-joined the Household Cavalry with a role in the King’s coronation, Izzy wore her ceremonial attire on their wedding day. The red coat and dramatic light really does make for an incredible portrait.

The day felt very personal with lots of sweet creative touches – hand drawn invitations and cake toppers. The day was a lovely mix of both brides’ background with a nod to Tina’s Slovakian heritage with traditional dancing & the breaking of a plate. The newlyweds have to clean it up together. A great symbol that shows their willingness to work as a team with life’s hurdles.

Bath engagement shoot, Somerset

Bath engagement wedding photography

Pippa & Navin had their engagement shoot around Bath, Somerset. The sandstone buildings are a really special backdrop for engagement shoots and weddings. Bath is home to the amazing Roman Baths wedding venue that is both beautiful and fascinating. I’d massively recommend for any engaged history buffs out there!

The close proximity of so many beautiful nature spots and parks, make Bath a great engagement shoot location. Definitely for anyone wanting the best of both worlds. Walk along streets with the beautiful sandstone Georgian architecture and then head to a park or up to one of the many viewpoints around the city for a little more greenery. We took a drive up to Alexandra park to see the view over Bath and get some of the nature filled images that all of us love. We weren’t originally going to stop at The Circus but when I saw the sun hitting these trees we HAD to pull over!

From our first zoom chat I could tell I was going to get on with Pippa & Navin. The bride and groom to-be have a June wedding booked with me in Herefordshire. Having had the best golden hour session around Bath & hearing all about their wedding day plans – I’m massively excited to shoot what I know is going to be an amazing day for the sweetest pair.

Yate wedding, South Gloucestershire

Yate Bristol wedding photography Gloucestershire, Somerset. Frampton Cotterell Frome Valley Walkway.

Louise & Nick had their wedding at Poole Court in Yate before moving on to The Globe Inn in Frampton Cotterell for their reception. We took a walk along the Frome Valley Walkway to capture a few relaxed portraits of the bride & groom in the meadow. On what turned out to be an absolute scorcher of a day!

The wedding reception venue had the advantage of being a stone’s throw from the beautiful walk that is the Frome Valley Walkway. It’s a great 18-mile walk starting in Yate all the way to Bristol. The walk passes through open countryside and meadows in South Gloucestershire, Chipping Sodbury, wooded valleys close to Winterbourne Down, the village of Frenchay and once it reaches Bristol it winds through a number of parks including Oldbury Court estate, an old hunting lodge within the Royal Forest of Kingswood.

On Louise & Nick’s spring wedding day, the buttercup filled field was surrounded by trees fully in bloom. Giving us the natural and relaxed backdrop we were after for bride & groom portraits. These ended up being my absolute favourite images of the day. Louise & Nick were able to have a few quieter moments away from the rest of the wedding party to soak in that newly married feeling.

I love getting to know a couple. Capturing a little bit of what makes them who they are as a couple is my favourite. All the sweetness, all the laughter, all the jokes and eye rolls. Whatever makes you two – you; that’s what I love to photograph. Let me bottle it up in my camera so you get to keep it forever.

Jacob’s Roof Garden wedding, Cardiff

At the top of Jacob’s market is the amazing Jacob’s Roof Garden that had the pleasure of hosting Saphia & Lewis’ wedding party. The newlyweds had an intimate ceremony at Cardiff Registry Office a few days earlier with a small crowd of friends and family. The bride & groom wanted to do something special in their home city with the rest of their loved ones so they chose Jacob’s Roof Garden as the venue for their second wedding celebration. On a sunny evening, it is the most spectacular city venue in Cardiff with amazing central views in every direction.

A great option for any bride and groom looking for an urban wedding venue right in the middle of Cardiff city centre; a stones throw from Cardiff Central station. The cityscape views at sunset really are spectacular!

Jacob’s Market is my absolute favourite weekend visit. It’s an absolute treasure trove of antiques. The perfect Aladdin’s cave for any antique and vintage lovers. Jacob’s Roof Garden is an exceptional addition with lots of exciting events throughout the year. Definitely worth a visit!

Layde bay Clevedon, Portishead, Weston-super-mare wedding day Bristol, North Somerset, South West England Weddings. Post wedding shoot beach

Sarah & Spencer got married abroad earlier in the year but unfortunately on the day itself Spencer was very unwell. He could hardly face the bare minimum of standing for photos before wanting to crawl back into bed – bless him! The newlyweds booked in with me to have a post-wedding shoot to get the photos they physically couldn’t get on the day. Bride & groom got back in their wedding outfits to capture a few more photos (& film) along the beautiful North Somerset coastline. What better place than down on the beach at Layde Bay?

LAYDE BAY

A lesser known pebble beach close to Clevedon. A great little outing if you’re after a bit of sea air especially if you’re Bristol based. Especially appreciated if you want a little quieter and more remote spot than the (at times) busy Clevedon seafront.

Having a post wedding shoot with me meant they had the best of both worlds. Although their destination wedding had absolutely perfect weather and a stunningly beautiful venue – I know it was special for the couple to have photographs in their hometown too.

We got out the sparklers on the beach as the sun set over the Bristol Channel. Although it was clouded over – I love how the clouds turned the sea to glistening silver.

Penarth beach, Vale of Glamorgan

Penarth beach pier wedding Cardiff Vale of glamorgan bride and groom wedding planning South Wales.

Bria & Kristan got married a couple of months earlier but unfortunately the day itself was a bit of a wash out. With our trusty Welsh weather we can’t always guarantee the sunshine! The newlyweds booked in with me to have a post-wedding shoot. Bride & groom got back in their wedding outfits to capture a few more photos (& film) along our beautiful Welsh coastline. What better place than down on the beach at Penarth?

Penarth beach pier wedding Cardiff Vale of glamorgan bride and groom wedding planning South Wales.

Penarth has a mix of pebble and sandy beach when the tide is out. As well as the beautiful alabaster threads that weave their way along the cliff face. There’s Penarth pier itself with it’s view over the Severn estuary as well as Flat Holm & Steep Holm. The town itself is great for a Saturday afternoon mooch around the shops & cafes with a growing emphasis on independent and environmentally friendly as well some of my absolute favourite charity shop haunts.

Although the weather was a bit moody down on this March day on Penarth’s seafront; the silver of the Bristol channel adds its own special quality to the images and film.

I love bride & groom portraits on the beach – and nothing quite blows the cobwebs away like a bit of sea air! Wales is all about the mountains, the valleys, the woods and the sea. I love photographing couples that appreciate their relationship to Wales’ all important natural landscape, seeing themselves as not at odds but a part of that beauty. What’s better than capturing how intrinsically connected we Welsh are to our landscape? Especially when it’s intertwined in a celebration of new love.

Barn wedding, Chelvey North Somerset

North Somerset Bristol candid natural wedding photographer

Lizzie & Marcus’ day was really special. They tied the knot at their family church in Chelvey near Nailsea and had their reception at home framed by the beautiful countryside of the family farm. Surrounded by the green beauty of the North Somerset countryside and the family farm’s animals, the barn served as a perfectly rustic wedding space.

After the ceremony, we made a stop at Nailsea court for some photos of the bride and groom walking in the grounds. Although now a private residence, we were very lucky to be able to visit Nailsea court thanks to a family connection.

In the barn

I love a good barn wedding and even better when it’s on the family farm. You can feel that connection means so much more to the bride and groom. Marcus being a keen cyclist meant that bikes took centre stage in the wedding décor alongside Lizzie’s love of classic books. With beautiful florals from The Floral Potager, Lizzie’s books made up the centre pieces. The bride’s brother created the table plan with original drawings from Lizzie’s favourite books.

It’s your day

Lizzie & Marcus had a traditional service in St Bridget’s Anglican church in Chelvey. The couple opted for very few photos of the ceremony preferring to experience it fully in the moment. This was the first time I’ve had this request and it definitely took a moment to register with my trigger-happy finger! However it was wonderful to enjoy the ceremony with my own eyes instead through the lens (just this one time).

This was a conversation we had prior to the wedding day. Knowing this going into the wedding meant I was prepared and knew what Lizzie & Marcus wanted. This is why it’s important to communicate your wants fully prior to the big day and to add all the details to my questionnaire. This means I can be where you want me to be on the day. I can prioritise what you want me to prioritise. Your priorities are my priorities! I may offer my suggestions and back the corner of the wedding day’s most emotive parts. But at the end of the day, it’s your day so make sure to share what’s important to you. We settled on a few photos of Lizzie coming down the aisle, signing the register and the newlyweds leaving the church. I am literally your cheerleader and will celebrate whatever bits you want me to!

Golden hour portraits

The sunny day made for absolutely glorious photo opportunities. Natural moments of Lizzie & Marcus’ little guests running around enjoying the table and lawn games. And great light in the day means I got the thing all photographer’s covert; golden hour! We took a walk at sunset to get the dreamy portraits the newlyweds were after.

Always ALWAYS schedule time on your day to come on a wander with me at golden hour. Its my absolute favourite point of the day once the pressure is off you both and you can take a little moment together. That being said, the impact of green space is not lost on me either. I really love the effect taking a walk in nature has on my couples. It really does inspire calm and natural moments that allows me to capture some really candid photos between you two. Seek it out as a priority!

The newlyweds finished off the party with karaoke & a silent disco in the barn. A perfect day! Congratulations Lizzie & Marcus✨
